PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project's mandate was to create a visually interesting, eye-catching book cover and inside spreads with the possibility of a slipcase that would convey a chosen artist’s message/what they wanted to convey through their art.

OBJECTIVES

The project’s main objective was to create a book cover and inside spreads with the possibility of a slipcase for a chosen artist. I was dealt German artist Albert Oehlen through pure chance, who had a very interesting message. He would make the craziest art and give it no meaning since he thought it boring. Throughout the design of this book, I made it my goal to encapsulate his message.

PROCESS
This project began with research concerning the artist and, through that research, the concepts the book would embody for its realization. The artist’s art style significantly influenced the book's design. Considering the “in-your-face” method the artist used for his artwork, the book title expressed his ideologies.
Inside of book first pages
The artwork matches up and correlates well with his mind that his art does not need any meaning whatsoever. The layout inside the book was immaculate and structured with a justified left grid which is an intelligent way to lay out text in German trends for Graphic design.
The project was executed successfully, such as the book and slipcase representing what I hope the actual artist would have envisioned if he had commissioned his project.
